Michael Crommelin is the Zelman Cowen Professor of Law at the University of Melbourne, and served as Dean of the Faculty from 1989 to 2002 and (after a year as visiting professor at Georgetown University) from 2003 to 2007. He was born and raised in Brisbane and graduated from the University of Queensland as Bachelor of Arts in 1967 and as Bachelor of Laws with first class honours in 1971. He continued his education in Canada, gaining an LLM and PhD from the University of British Columbia. Professor Crommelin has researched and published extensively in his primary areas of academic expertise, which include comparative law, constitutional law, energy law and native title law.
