NB: William Edward Hearn, first Dean of the Faculty of Law, resigned his Chair (Professor of History and Political Economy) once he was appointed Dean in July 1873 and was henceforth known as Dr Hearn, Dean of the Faculty of Law. This is why the first Professor of Law is not WE Hearn, but Edward Jenks.
