Inter-faculty Football

The Law Faculty football team in its early days was known as the 'Eagles', and the law students particularly enjoyed trouncing the Engineers.

The pages of De Minimis reveal that in 1949 the Legal Eagles took their second successive premiership in the Inter-Faculty competition, as they 'decisively defeated Agricultural Science.'

The news wasn’t so good in 1962, a page 8 report revealing that the 'legal eagles were by no means disgraced' in their grand final loss to Commerce.

However, in a 1966 edition of De Minimis, sports reporter 'Jock Strap' took great pleasure in reporting: 'The great class of Law Student sportsmen was shown in the grand final of the inter-faculty football when Law 9 goals 20 behinds defeated one of the minor faculties (I think it was Engineering) 9 goals 6 behinds.'
